Join us for lunch as we discuss the roadmap for the coming year. As our 2nd Annual Week of Action winds to a close, we will come together to vote for WCADP’s 2014-2015 Board of Directors and to recognize this year’s Abolitionist of the Year. We will then hear from this year’s keynote speaker, Aba Gayle. We invite you to stay to partake in volunteer and lobby day training to make sure we can be effective and efficient at our next lobby day in February.
Please RSVP at (206)-622-8952 or firstname.lastname@example.org if you will be joining us. We want to make sure we have enough food for everyone!
Aba Gayle lost her daughter to homicide in 1980. After spending several years in what she calls her “time of darkness,” she decided it was time to forgive her daughter’s murderer. She began her path toward healing, which led her San Quentin, where she met the man who took her daughter from her. “When I left San Quentin that day, after only one visit, I knew that I would never stop spreading the word that these men were human beings and not monsters. I knew that I would be a political and social advocate on their behalf. And, I knew that if the State of California ever executes Douglas Mickey, they would be killing my friend.” Join us as we hear more about her incredible story.
